![]() When someone dies, survivors often have to deal with complicated situations and make many difficult decisions at a time when they least feel able to do so. They turn to businesses who can offer their services and assistance, whether financial, legal or other practical areas that challenge people after a loss. But when agents or representatives have to deal with grieving clients, they need to be aware of some of the challenges that person faces. They are not counsellors of course, but when they have a basic knowledge of the effects of grief, and strategies and resources to help them know what to say and do, the client feels they have someone who understands not just their business needs, but sympathizes with what they are going through. Learning 2 Cope provides professional business people, volunteers and community members with a basic knowledge of strategies to help understand on a personal level how people can cope with death, to help and support their loved ones and the grieving people they deal with day to day. Not only does this affect those who experience bereavement, there are many struggling to cope with and grieving over OTHER significant losses — divorce and separation; relocation; job changes; injury; being passed over for promotion; being laid off; early retirement; and unemployment. At any given time, a significant section of the work force may be coping with a major personal loss. And when there is any life loss, people grieve. Any life change or loss offers your business an opportunity to provide a service. |
